Whale Watching Tour

Journey south-east from Cape Town into the Overberg on one of South Africa’s most scenic day tours. The drive to the famous whale watching town of Hermanus is an experience in itself, with dramatic mountain and ocean views along Clarence Drive, wine-tasting opportunities, and rich farmland with canola fields glowing yellow in winter.

On the way, visit Stony Point in Betty’s Bay, home to a lively colony of African penguins, and stop at the Harold Porter National Botanical Garden to explore indigenous fynbos and mountain scenery.

In Hermanus, walk the cliff path and enjoy some of the best land-based whale watching in the world. During whale season (June to November, with peak viewing in September and October), Southern Right Whales often come remarkably close to shore.

The Hemel-en-Aarde (Heaven-and-Earth) Valley offers many welcoming wine farms, while viewpoints above Hermanus reveal sweeping views across Walker Bay. I’ll tailor the day to your interests – choose from wildlife, wine, gardens, photography or simply a spectacular drive through the Overberg.
