Cape Dutch manor house

Wine-making started in the Cape over 350 years ago, when the French Huguenots laid the foundations of a rich wine-making history, famous the world over. Together we will explore the breathtaking natural beauty and magnificent food and wine of the Stellenbosch and Franschhoek wine regions.

Our stops will include a range of wine estates, from the quaint historic to the sleek modern. There are more than 160 wine farms to choose from, so if you let me know what types of wine you enjoy, we can make an exciting selection.

You'll have a sumptuous lunch at one of many great restaurant options before continuing the estate visits.

Potential stop-overs you can choose from:

  • A walk or drive down the historical Dorp Street in the beautiful university town of Stellenbosch, with its characteristic Cape Dutch architecture

  • Wine tasting at estates outside Stellenbosch – some of my favourite wine farms in this area: Delaire GraffBoschendal, and Muratie

  • A drive along picturesque Helshoogte Pass from Stellenbosch to Franschhoek

  • The town of Franschhoek, nestled between the majestic Drakenstein Mountains, with its rich history of the French Huguenots, who introduced wine-making to this region

  • Wine tasting at Franschhoek wine estates, with La Motte and Haute Cabrière as top options

  • The immaculate Babylonstoren estate, famed for its formal vegetable garden

  • The historic Vergelegen in Somerset-West, with its magnificent Cape-Dutch manor house
